Our Story
WHERE IT BEGAN
Kamber Labs was founded in November of 2021 by Quinn Aiello. After graduating high school at the beginning of the Covid 19 pandemic, Aiello spent the following winter skiing and fell in love with all things winter related leading him to found Kamber Labs the following year. Aiello’s inspiration behind Kamber Labs was to create a company focused on accessibility, sustainability and hand-made products. Coming from a family of artists, Aiello feels that a hands-on approach to design is important to creating the meaningful connection between user and product. Learning to weld at 4 and becoming a expert carpenter by age 20, it was only natural that his passion for wood and metal would fuse with is love for the snow leading to his interest in ski and snowboard design. Aiello feels that the ski industry has slowly traded its commitment to the user for the profits leading to a lower quality product built by someone who has no passion for the industry. That is why he insists on a hands-on approach ~ not only in ski and snowboard construction, but also in our apparel and clothing which we hand screen print so each product represents the passion we feel towards our cause.
OUR FIRST BOARD
Shortly after founding Kamber Labs, Quinn Aiello began experimenting with powder surfers, a modern take on the original snowboards. Using theories of hydrodynamics to create multi-dimensional bases, powder surfers allow the rider to surf powder without the need of bindings . After some research and design, he created the first Kamber powder surfer. As with all first prototypes, their are always issues to arise. After noting the design problems with the first prototype, Aiello went back to the drawing board. From January 2022 to June of 2023, Aiello created 11 new prototypes experimenting with different board shapes, base profiles, grips and fin design in order to create a product Kamber Labs would be proud to put
GROWING THE KAMBER FAMILY
In the spring of 2023, Chris Hagenau became a key member of the Kamber Labs team, bringing with him a rich background in ski and snowboard construction from his time at Never Summer, along with years of expertise in woodworking. From a young age Hagenau’s passion for snowsports began to grow as he searched for a way to fuse his craft with his passion for the ski and snowboard industry. Hagenau's journey with Kamber Labs founder, Aiello, began during their studies in the Industrial Design program at MSU Denver. Bonded by a deep-rooted passion for the outdoors and winter sports, they both are dedicated to applying their combined skills and knowledge to craft exceptional products that embody both quality and innovation.
