Our Mission
ACCESSIBILITY
Based in Denver, Colorado, Kamber Labs is surrounded by underserved communities who cannot afford the prices of skiing and snowboarding. That is why we focused on creating our powder surfers before anything else. With a powder surfer you don’t need a lift ticket or expensive gear ~ only a hill and some snow. We spent many days testing prototypes at the local park near our shop, Ruby Hill, gaining feed back from these communities. We soon realized how important it is for underserved communities to have access to the outdoors. In the efforts to build our company, we want to give more and more back to these communities as we gain the resources in hopes that one day we can make a difference fighting the corporate greed which faces the ski industry and change the stereo type of winter sports being reserved for the wealthy.
ABOUT THE ART
In addition to our focus on quality hand-made products, we also believe in using unique art from local artists. Aiello grew up in a gallery run by his parents who founded the RINO arts scene in Denver, Colorado. He believes deeply in the power of art and its importance to design. A piece of art has the ability to create a connection to the user on a deeper, more personal level than the use of the product. That is why Kamber Labs prides itself on one-of-a-kind designs we use from artists such as Anise Aiello, Elliot Walsch, and many more. It is also important for us to help promote these artist and give them credit for their work in the hope that we can further their careers. If you would like to supports these artist, we plan to release limited run paper prints signed by the artist.
SUSTAINABILITY
The impact of the manufacturing sector is a major contributor to the environmental crisis we are facing. We understand these impacts are sometimes unavoidable with manufacturing; however, we are committed to reducing our waste by finding a second life for many of our discarded materials. The off cuts from processing the wood we use to make our boards is laser engraved to make the labels we attach to our clothing. Other scraps of wood we can not engrave are saved and processed for Eurekus, a STEAM education company who use it to make sculptures and art with elementary age students teaching the importance of art and science through making. In addition to finding second homes for discarded materials, we aim to use environmentally friendly materials. For our screen printing department, we exclusively use eco friendly inks and cleaners which are water-based so no toxic cleanup is required.
